Mid June Gorgeous time on the lake! Must walk to the beach from camp, very relaxing & a nice view of Mt Tallsc. Sunday-Tuesday was mellow.
Hiked Mt Tallac; trailhead is close at a few miles drive away. Amazing views from atop!
Campground was nice, shady and well laid out.
I’ll definitely go back. There was a tagged Bear that was a big problem here though. It was recommended I “get out” only what was needed from the bear box and put everything else back at all times-no joke!

One of the most beautiful campgrounds I have ever been in! The lake was stunning as well, and I felt like I was in the Alps. I can't give it a full 5 stars because the bear situation there is really wild. We felt like we were in their home, which we were. A bear actually pulled open our bearbox at night and ate a ton of our food. Another day we saw a giant bear push over a dumpster. If you are afraid of bears, stay in a yurt.

Pros: Site 193 is very close walking distance to the lake, about 0.5 mile. Large spacious campsite, corner position. Token operated showers, $1 for 3 mins. Close drive to beaches nearby, Kiva beach and Pope beach. Staff are friendly and informative.
Cons: Many brown bears active in evenings and mornings. Traversing through this campsite and surrounding sites. This site backs into a woodsy area then a meadow, so bears approach from the backside. Many other campers cancelled/left because of this. Bathrooms could have been more clean. Stayed in a different site at Fallen Leaf last year, had much cleaner bathrooms in that area. Visited the camp store 3 times, but never open as closed Mon-Tue and store worker left for lunch during the day. Still could purchase ice and firewood at the entrance despite store being closed.

The campground is very spread out and Fallen Leaf Lake is the perfect size to go out on a paddle board.
