What Guests Are Saying
Meeks Bay Resort is praised for its beautiful location near Lake Tahoe, clean facilities, and friendly staff, making it a favorite spot for families and campers. Many visitors enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, lovely beach, and well-maintained campsites, with some returning for decades. However, there are concerns about noise from nearby roads and overcrowding at campsites, along with issues related to staffing and amenities that could use improvement.

Meeks Bay first timer & we loved it. Typically camp at Richardson and loved how chill & private Meeks bay is. Beach is wide and sand is soft on one end rocky on the other. Plenty of room for campers & day use ppl. Store was equipped with snacks and drinks (alcoholic and regular), but not much camping supplies. Snack shack was great for lunch time bites- portions are huge prices are fair. Bear activity daily, bring horn or spray just incase- didn’t have a direct encounter but others did. Very serene and beautiful landscape, will visit again. We are a family of four (2 kids, 3YO and 6YO).

We stayed at site 01. It was in the first loop by the entrance. It was honestly a great site. The bear box was mostly in the shade the whole day. The tent was also in the shade. We tied a line by some trees to dry our clothes which sat in the sun. Flat even surface. It was very close to the restrooms and water spigot. There are no showers on the tent camping side. You gotta walk or preferably drive next door to the RV section for the showers.

Beautiful and clean campsite, with well kept bathrooms. Lovely family beach area big enough for everyone. The only downside is HIGH bear activity. BEWARE of bears coming every night, scavenging through your site. There are bear boxes, but it is up to the campers to keep things put away and cleaned up. Overall, fun family experience!

Very nice campground, and so quiet at night! We could walk to the beach which was really nice and the water at Meeks bay is beautiful.

I really enjoyed this campground! I was in spot 17, a short walk to the bathrooms and beach access. The beach was beautiful but bring water shoes! The sand is rough. It would have been great to have some showers in the tent campground but if you’re able you can drive to the resort campground next door to use theirs and they do have parking spots in front for easy access’s I would definitely go back!

Everyone we came across was helpful and kind.
Especially camp host Rasta!
We will come up again just to see him!
The camp site was lively, campers laughing and having fun! The beach access was great!
All bathrooms fresh and clean.

Nice campground but needs some work on the shower and restroom facilities. This is a NO PETS facility.

Although the mattress in the studio is new it’s very soft and not very comfortable. I would like to see bear safe doors installed on both cabins. Overall, we had a wonderful visit and hopefully be back next year.
