What Guests Are Saying
Meeks Bay Resort is praised for its beautiful location near Lake Tahoe, clean facilities, and friendly staff, making it a favorite spot for families and campers. Many visitors enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, lovely beach, and well-maintained campsites, with some returning for decades. However, there are concerns about noise from nearby roads and overcrowding at campsites, along with issues related to staffing and amenities that could use improvement.

Made reservations months ago but, upon arriving at the facility, was informed by staff that we were required to pay an additional $400+ payment in fees/taxes in order to receive the key to our lodging.
Turns out that the US Forest Service (USFS) had not programmed this facilities' REC.GOV website to include/charge and collect the required fees/taxes associated with our reservation when first making the reservation. Very poor performance by the USFS staff managing this facility.

Camping at Meeks Bay is a tradition for our family! We miss being able to bring our little dog, but without RVs, the South campground was SO QUIET this year. At least until the bears arrive. Be prepared to eat and clean up rapidly. We saw bears 3 out of 4 nights this year, and they're getting very bold and unaffected by noise.

The camping was ok, but very noisy, and every night the campsite was visited by a bear.

Im giving this review a Great due to the staff and camp ground host during the festive for the Washoe Tribe. The only downfall was the quiet time was not respected.

Great beach and crystal blue water. Volleyball court came in handy. Bring portable shade for long sunny days. Second visit and still have things to do in Tahoe.

We recently stayed at a campsite that was just okay. Some of the sites felt a bit cramped, which was a little disappointing. We had planned to enjoy six days there, but ended up leaving early because of the lack of showers on-site. Instead, you have to trek over to the resort just to get cleaned up, and even then, it’s a bit of a hassle. You need to grab a token for a shower, and the hot water is pretty hit or miss.
On the bright side, we did get to see a bear up close at our campsite! They’re pretty chill as long as you don’t leave food or trash lying around. The beach is within walking distance, which is a nice perk, but honestly, the shower situation made things more complicated than they needed to be. Driving to the resort just for a shower felt like too much of a hassle, and it took away from the camping vibe we were hoping for. Overall, it was an okay experience, but I think we'd look for something with better facilities next time.

Great location. Amenities are upkept well. Close to the road so bring ear plugs.
It’s likely you’ll see a bear so be prepared and make sure to leave your goods in the bear box!
Overall, amazing spot for some summer camping under the stars.

It was great place. biggest issue I found was bathroom. Also, bathroom has running water, but it was not clean as one expected. some of them had broken soup dispenser. Otherwise, great place to relax and camp.
