What Guests Are Saying
Sentinel Campground is well-maintained, clean, and set in a beautiful location near the river with ample hiking opportunities and great privacy between sites. Campers appreciate the friendly rangers and the peaceful atmosphere, especially in quieter months. While some facilities had minor issues, overall, guests enjoy a fantastic experience in nature.

The campground should have been closed. When we arrived on September 17th, the Air quality was extremely dangerous. No visibility and ash was falling from the sky. Don’t understand why the Authorities had not closed the campground, it was uninhabitable.

Beautiful campsite. No cell service which allowed us to unwind.

I like Cedar Grove and I like the inner drive of this campground. But...
This park has gone to 100% on-line / phone reservations - no walk-ups. But the prominent signage at the campground is misleading - "campground is full" - when of course it is not. The signage needs to catch up with the new program, if it is permanently adopted.
I made a reservation for a particular campsite. But when I arrived at 11 pm, it was occupied. So I took the open spot next to me. The next morning I am confronted by two armed rangers demanding to know why I parked there. After showing them my reservation on my phone, they were a bit more civil about it, and promised that someone would be along to check me in shortly. No one ever did for the 5 days I was there.
There's no cell service at Cedar Grove, and the internet access at Cedar Grove is not available to campers, so when I wanted to extend my stay for another night, I had to drive 60 miles round trip up to Grant Grove so I could access the internet and update my reservation. Its really wasteful, and unnecessary. The concessionaire or the NPS should have WiFi available near the ranger station or the lodge, or there should be some way to access the recreation.gov webpage at laptop or kiosk somewhere in Cedar Grove.
Finally, I don't understand why the concessionaire was allowed to not open the showers and laundry this summer.
