The area was nice, I had three kids and they were all able to play in the creek, also walk to the roaring water fall.

The park has unbeatable scenery. We had 4 nights reserved at this campground at three different campsites. We fished and swam everyday, and it helped us getaway from the loud hustle and bustle of the campground. For example, loud music from other campers, certain campers having wood campfires when ordered not to, having to help other campers with their stuck vehicle because they parked in the wrong spot and the rangers refused to help, campers drunk driving around the campsites, a seemingly non existent quiet time at night, listening to a drunk mom cussing at her crying child at midnight, people crying wolf about bears, and maybe a few other audible memories. I easily avoided this commotion by waking up at 5am and being the first person on the water before all the swimmers scared the trout. While fishing, my girlfriend took a stroll to the visitor center to ask if we could simplify our multiple reservations to one single campsite. Neither they nor recreation.gov were willing help and bounced her back and forth between the two agencies. Although every site had a "reserved" sign on it, many of them were unoccupied (and somehow the campground sounded like a mild frat party). It actually seems like people hate working here at the park. The only nice worker we encountered was Kathy at the Cedar Grove Village, and the rugged mountain man who sold delicious ice cream on the way. After having to waste half of our day moving to our second reserved campsite, we decided to sacrifice our $22 investment on our third campsite and venture on. I felt good helping a fellow camper before we left. He was hitchhiking to his car at Roads End because his wife struggled during a hike. She probably wouldn't have died, but I was able to see why some people might. Will I come back here? Probably not. I didn't hate staying here, I just expected to be closer to nature rather than deal with urban civilization on my vacation. When we got home, we finally experienced some silence.

Beautiful camp site, the King's river is running low and easily wade-able (and nice for washing up as the showers at the lodge are closed due to covid)... As always the rangers were easily accessible and had answers for any questions we had. A bit disappointing as some trails had detours, but still some amazing scenic hiking! I do wish there was maybe one place around the campgrounds or Sheep Creek with internet access is available... Also, campfires were not allowed due to high heat, dryness and a low winter ice pack, but hey, this is the best place to celebrate July 4th weekend!

Wife and I really enjoyed our time here. A little loud, a little crowded but it was the 4th of July weekend. I can't blame the park for that.

The most magical place. Everyone needs to hike the end of the road trail and go slightly past mist falls to see the rocky views. Absolutely spectacular spot. Couldn't have wanted anything more.

Shady thanks to trees, quiet, close to bathroom, spigot near, I would say not truly for two cars, but we managed to park a mid-size suv & truck diagonally in order to fit on concrete. If you are booking with a second spot also reserve # 50. Been camping here for years but these spots are new to us we will definitely keep booking these to avoid mosquitoes. Overflow parking next to bathroom only fits about 4 cars if people use space adequately.

.Tire Chains may be required at any time. Be prepared at any time of year for a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions. Check Road Conditions at nps.gov/seki. Vehicles longer than 22 feet (including trailers) are not advised between Potwisha Campground and the Giant Forest Museum. Dangerous Rivers! Many drowning victims were playing near rivers. Rivers present a far greater danger than lakes or pools. Surfaces may look calm, but strong currents often run below. Be cautious walking near rivers as rocks can be slippery. Getting out of a cold, swift river is often impossible. Falling Objects - Don't linger under dead, cracked, or broken branches. Run if you hear cracks or snapping from tree roots, trunks, or branches (know that sometimes there is no sound, and very little time to react). Report falling branches or trees to a ranger. A California state fishing license is required to fish in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, and Sequoia National Forest lakes and streams. Fishing licenses may be available at National Park and National Forest markets. |
