What Guests Are Saying
Sheep Creek Campground offers a beautiful and private setting with clean facilities and friendly park personnel. It's an ideal spot for exploring the Kings River area, with spacious campsites and abundant free firewood. While there are some concerns about wildlife and theft, many guests highly recommend the campground for relaxation and nature experiences.

Fantastic and clean campsite with a great location next to the river. Parking spaces were a little too small to fit 2 cars, but other than that it was a great experience.

Hate the reservation system. I have been going to this campground for (7) years and always get my favorite site. Site was unavailable for my trip, but no one showed up to use it. Had to move sites in the middle of the trip because of reservations. Again no one showed up to use the site I had to move from. Least favorite trip in several years. No campfires??? There are fire rings for safety. No propane available at the store either. Very disappointed. Kings canyon has been the favorite week of my year for a long time. My kids and I always have a great time, sad to see it change.

We had a wonderful experience with my family on this camp site. We been camping in the Sequoia for several years and normally we camp at Dorse Creek, but this year was close. Camping at Sheep Creek was enjoyable. The only item that was not up to we had before is the maintenance of the restroom facilities. Compare to Dorse Creek maintenance from 1 to 10 I give a 10 to Dorse Creek and Sheep Creek a 4. The rest of the facilities and campsite is wonderful.

Sheep Creek is an excellent! I recommend staying by the creek or by the river (if you don't mind the water flowing sound during sleep). Because there was no shower in the summer of 2021, many campers took advantage of the river to refresh. Be sure to check out Muir Rock and Roaring River Fall that is close by! The easy biking path to Sentinel campground is nice as well! Amazing dark sky at night - we happen to see some shooting stars because we were in time for the annual Perseid meteor shower. Also, bear country is real and don't leave the food out!

.Tire Chains may be required at any time. Be prepared at any time of year for a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions. Check Road Conditions at nps.gov/seki. Vehicles longer than 22 feet (including trailers) are not advised between Potwisha Campground and the Giant Forest Museum. Dangerous Rivers! Many drowning victims were playing near rivers. Rivers present a far greater danger than lakes or pools. Surfaces may look calm, but strong currents often run below. Be cautious walking near rivers as rocks can be slippery. Getting out of a cold, swift river is often impossible. Falling Objects - Don't linger under dead, cracked, or broken branches. Run if you hear cracks or snapping from tree roots, trunks, or branches (know that sometimes there is no sound, and very little time to react). Report falling branches or trees to a ranger. A California state fishing license is required to fish in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, and Sequoia National Forest lakes and streams. Fishing licenses may be available at National Park and National Forest markets. |
