Sunset Campground (CA)

Nice campground with the location being central for access to explore both Kings Canyon and Sequoia. Restrooms are serviced and reasonably clean, but like most campgrounds, they don't ever do deep clean scrubbing so there is grime in the corners. My big complaint is that the sites are too packed in. Our site 66 looked like a group campground, with a shared parking pad and overlapping tent/table areas. We ended up reserving 67 too just too assure that we had extra space. There is so much extra land up there... I don't understand why they insist on packing the campgrounds in so tightly.

We didn't have the best spot for laying down a tent. We ended up getting pretty close to our neighbor's site in order to have a comfortable flat space to pitch the tent. Even then, we realized too late it, too, was sloping. Worse off, our tent orientation meant we felt ourselves sliding downwards every so often throughout the night. The camp had flushing toilets, which was welcomed. However, no potable water onsite, as there was a posted notice about people contracting illnesses from using the water for drinking, cooking, and brushing teeth.

My site was very nice, though kind of close to all the others. Quiet at nite and most days although one day there was annoying music playing until quiet hour. Why come to nature to blare your music?? Just stay home and blare your annoying music for hours. Also the bathrooms were filthy beyond Mexico standards.

I had one of the better campsites in Sunset campground. The majority of the campsites are right on top of each other and offer little privacy. There are very few that are nicely located and a tad bit more private than the rest. It's just lovely in general in Kings Canyon NP but it's also sad to see how lacking the facilities are - bathrooms are old and in very poor condition, I don't think they ever get cleaned - and the fault for the conditions at all of the NP's lies squarely with our current Administration which cut off massive amounts of funding for our National Park system.

The campground was clean and the setting was beautiful, as you would expect. The park rangers were helpful and friendly, and I appreciate everything that they do. The men’s room was in need of cleaning — my only negative comment. All in all it was an enjoyable trip.

Nice camp site with plenty of space for setting man tents. Bathrooms are very close.

Beautiful campground. Clean bathrooms. The sites are pretty close to each other, unless you score prime real estate w the beautiful views, And so, you can hear and see ur neighbors pretty well. Loved how much we could get done and see nearby.

It was very quiet that night. Does were great.

Absolutely great camp ground. Perfect for tents & families. Bathrooms could use a better cleaning and upkeep but overall very good campground with great views.
