Sunset Campground (CA)

The worst camping trip I have had not because the site but because the neighboring camps. 108 is large and nice. unfortunately the people who rented 107 106 and 105 were extremely loud and has music on. stayed loud past the 10pm quiete zone. Dogs non stop barking. dog and kids were in our campsite. no commen courtesy. woke up at 2am to two guys standing next to our tent. left when confronted. for what it is I would wish a bit more ranger action and rule enforcement. Camping is to be one with mother nature, not to have a family back yard party. horrible experience this time.

Nice site, close to 146. Some nice rocks for kids. Two places to put a tent - one spot is flat, but right next to road/parking with little privacy. The other spot has more privacy but is on a slope.

This was our second time staying at Sunset. Great location with shade and near the general store. It is 25 minutes to Hume Lake and 30 minutes to Stoney Creek. This site is small and on a slight slant. We had an 8-person tent (I like room to be able to stand) and a 2-person tent. We only set up the 2-person tent on the site and used the 8-person tent on a relative's site across from us. Everything worked out, and we had a wonderful time.

The campsite was completely exposed and overrun by a huge crowd of campers. It was literally liked like a music festival when I pulled up. I brought my six-year-old granddaughter to go camping. I drove away to look for a different campground and lost my money.

It was my two-day solo camp at Sunset Campground. It’s safe for solo female travelers who would like to do activities alone. It’s a nice place, but no shower. That would be great if the toilet was better cleaner. That’s a great camping area if you’re focusing on going hiking. But it’s quite a little bit quite far from the famous places, like Lodgepole, Sherman Tree.

This was an incredible stay! The employee we met at the camp gave us great advice on where to go. We stayed on the west side in site 91 and it was incredible! The west side seems to have the best views but this campsite is great everywhere. Highly recommend!

We had site 100 which was nice for watching sunset through the trees. There are two small level spots for a two person tent. A larger tent would need to be put on a slight slope. Restrooms were close and clean, but lacked hooks for hanging a bag while changing and getting ready. The biggest thing keeping this site from an excellent review is the lack of showers. For a popular campground and national park, coin operated showers really should be installed at Grant Grove.

Such spacious camp site slots and peaceful setting!

Absolutely gorgeous! True to the name, the sunsets did not disappoint.

We had an incredible time. The name speaks for itself with beautiful evening views. This campsite was very lively. Almost a little too much past quiet hours, but I’m sure that just depends on the crowd. Would recommend!
