Sunset Campground (CA)

Was at site 93, pretty close to the next campsite, but a really nice and level site. Really enjoyed it and the evening sunset was amazing! Would go to this campground again!

Nice campground with trees and much cooler than the valley below.
Walking distance store.
Convenient location for exploring Kings Cyn.
Bathroom needs an upgrade.

Well cared for sites with easy to access bathrooms. Fire rings and bear boxes were as expected. Our particular site, 135, was pretty sloped but did have a flat spot for a tent. Oddly there were very few mosquitoes even though there was a slightly marshy area right behind our site! We enjoyed walking over to Grant Grove with our 3 year old and the drive over to Sequoia was beautiful and nice. Overall a lovely time.

Was perfect for a trailer/ RV thats 30ft! Accessible to park!

Restrooms were in horrible shape. Toilet paper strewn all over the place in multiple bathrooms. Handicap bathroom had NO toilet paper at all for one full day. Similar experience at NPS visitor Center and other Kings Canyon park bathrooms. This was during a weekday - not a busy weekend. Need to step up your sanitary game here!

Rec.gov did a nice job administering our arrival with emails and notices.

Love it. Will definitely go there again. Close to the bathroom.

Site 57, though not on our fave list (we have a list of faves) was lovely. The restrooms were close by and clean. However, the larger one with several stalls was horrible. I don't fault the park service employees, I fault the savage campers who either treat their own homes like trash, or they have taught their children that. I was embarrassed.
We have been going camping for over 40 years and we will continue to do so. The mountains are calling and I must go.

Its a very beautiful campground but due to lack of funding and campers that do not clean up after themselves, it has gone downhill.

Site 55. Zero shade from sun up to sun down so be prepared with extra shelter or to be away from camp for the hottest parts of the day. Most of the site is on a slope and there is only a small flattish section for a single or two person tent. Parking pad is shared with your neighbor. Bear box available but it will get blazing hot during the summer so consider a cooler just to keep things from spoiling. Great location between the main park activities, and a 15 second drive to the local village. Grant Grove highly accessible.
