Sunset campground is centrally located in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in central California's rugged Sierra Nevada range. This campground is at an elevation of 6,500 feet. A number of hiking trails begin within walking distance of the campground including the one mile trail to the General Grant Tree.

This is an ideally located campground. It stays cooler in the summer when campgrounds in the canyon are heating up. Site 005 is a great spot because it is right next to secret site 006, which doesn’t exist in the reservation system. So you basically get the space of two sites in one!

The site was nice, and we were well situated at the edge of the campground in the direction of the forest. The sites are closer together than I am use to, but thankfully our neighbors were friendly and polite. Some people were rather loud and playing music, but it was the 4th of July.

Clean bathrooms and well kept campsites. Water spigots nearby for potable water and utility sinks to wash dishes. The general store nearby is stocked well stocked. We always have a great experience camping at Sunset Campground.

Well maintained campground. Sunset view is great. One problem is noted is in spots 2 campground are merged and there is no separation. I felt like sharing the campground work a stranger. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the camping trip

Loved this camp spot! It was tucked away and protected from the wind. We didn’t have a view of the sunset, but an easy walk up the hill gave us a beautiful view. Short walk to the bathrooms and the water pump was right across the way from the site. We car camped and were able to make the spot level. Definitely space for one tent!
