What Guests Are Saying

Alpine Meadow Campground offers a quiet and well-maintained environment with spacious campsites, making it a great choice for those exploring the Tahoe/Truckee area. Many visitors praised the cleanliness of the facilities and the helpfulness of the host. However, caution is advised regarding potential health concerns from tall grass, and some noise from nearby trains and the airport may be an issue for light sleepers.

I love this campground! It’s always clean & very well managed. They even have recycle bins by the trash containers. There are many waters spigots around the circle & a small outside amphitheater in the middle. There is also a water hose @ the entrance. There are many places to walk my dogs, besides the actual campground. We usually walk down to Martis Creek Lake & also up past the glider entrance (from the main road). I have camped in almost all the campsites. They are all unique w/different amounts of sun & shade. Most of the campsites have pea gravel- so my dogs don’t get dirty. There is an overgrown roadbed around the outer circle of the campground that is perfect for walking my dogs off the beaten path. I totally recommend this wonderful place.

The campsites are well spaced, clean and peaceful. The current hosts are expedient, friendly and involved throughout the day in maintaining the great energy of this oasis of blue sky, mountain tops and lake. Convenient to modern amenities in Truckee, Tahoe .

When you make your reservation, be aware that the one's in the 20's are right next to a work yard. If you have a reservation and paid for one of those sites and want to switch to an empty site that doesn't look at work trucks and maintenance buildings, they will not switch your reservation, they will make you pay for the nice site in addition to what you already paid. 😠
We ended up in site 16, which was roomy and nice. We were happy to have a camper van with us because the vault toilets were so foul that we didn't want to use them. 🤢
Martis Creek Lake was nice and peaceful and was good for paddling, and apparently has good trout fishing.
The town of Truckee is nearby, with plenty of shops, but the little shopping center near the airport was awesome. There was a hardware store with a camping section, a grocery with an awesome hot food section, and a brewery with tasty beer and food.

Nice clean, quiet spot. Although the max length stated was 30', there were at least 3 sites that would accommodate our 37' Class A. Half price on our American the Beautiful pass, so $10/night!
