What Guests Are Saying
Alpine Meadow Campground offers a clean, quiet, and well-maintained environment with spacious sites, making it ideal for families and outdoor enthusiasts. Its convenient location near Truckee and various hiking and biking trails adds to its appeal, while friendly hosts enhance the camping experience. Some minor concerns include potential allergens in the grass and noise from nearby airport and train tracks, but overall, visitors appreciate the campground's beauty and tranquility.

Getting there was a little tricky. We had to ask a few people along the way but eventually found the campsite.
We watched a YouTube video of the campsite so once we got there it was easy enough to locate our site and set up. It was safe, the restrooms were close by, and everyone was friendly. People waved when they passed by. Railey’s was five minutes away.
From our campsite 8 ( no one was at 7 ) we could see the water. Planes would occasionally fly over head and drop the gliders so that was cool to see. At night the stars were gorgeous. On the second night we heard coyotes throughout the night. There was a bear locker for food, and the trash was also bear proof.
Place felt safe, and clean. I would definitely go there again!

Nice Campground, except the toilet. Wind brings the smell. Flush toilet would make it more attractive.

Wonderful campground! It was quiet the whole time we were there. We enjoyed fishing at Martis Lake and caught several perch. We also saw a baby bear roam through the site next to ours. It was a magical experience.

Will schedule return. Large well kept sites. Great location. Easy access. Quiet. Met very nice campers. Disappointed that fires were allowed in rings despite severe smoke snd burning restrictions.

I wasn't sure exactly when I would arrive at Alpine Meadows due to RV repairs. I talked to the camp host who assured me I could make a reservation by phone on the morning of my check-in. When I was ready I called and there was no answer. And no voice mail. This was Monday August 23. I pulled out my laptop and made a reservation on line at recreation.gov. I got the confirmation on my smart phone. When I arrived at the campground around 400 pm on Monday August 23 there were no signs of life at the camp host's site. And no ticket at my campsite, #10. I called the camp host again. Still no answer. Then I sent a text message. No response. I understand the smoke from the wildfires had a significant impact on the recreational activities in the area, but it seemed less than satisfactory that the camp hosts were absent without any contact. This would be a very nice camping experience under different environmental conditions. And thanks to recreation.gov for taking care of business.

The Campground is clean and well maintained. The pine trees are large and shade is prevalent. Excellent place for a week or weekend get away.

Wonderful place to camp as it has less crowds and bathrooms were clean. Great location to a variety of activities and loved watching the lear jets and glider planes as the flew over. Quiet campground off the main highway. Highly recommend. Not crowded when we were there.
