What Guests Are Saying

Alpine Meadow Campground offers a quiet and well-maintained environment with spacious campsites, making it a great choice for those exploring the Tahoe/Truckee area. Many visitors praised the cleanliness of the facilities and the helpfulness of the host. However, caution is advised regarding potential health concerns from tall grass, and some noise from nearby trains and the airport may be an issue for light sleepers.

Alpine Dam is a very quiet place. Bonus, it has mountain bicycle and hiking trails 600 feet away. It also has a lake area for the kayaks with free-to-use PFDs on a rack, and clean yellow ones. there is a supermarket a few miles away. One can ride a bicycle to the supermarket. A good way to say in shape while getting stuff to cook with.

This was a hidden gem which we will add to our list of close-by campgrounds. However, it was difficult to find using Apple maps - it sent us to a narrow dirt road leading to the dam! Getting to the campground was frustrating but we enjoyed our site, the hosts, the bike rides through the campground and to the lake. There is a cute amphitheater behind this site (#20) but no programs during the time we were there. By backing in at a slight angle we were able to level our Sprinter van without needing blocks. Signage could be improved on where to turn off hwy 267 and then to the campground. Be aware, there is no shade at the lake but plenty of mixed shade and sun at the campsite. Water there is not potable and a pipe was broken while we were there so we had a brief time without spigot water.

It seems that water lines in the toilet and some water spigot were turned off. There were no water for three days. I tried to let the camp host know and see what’s going on. But they were not there when I checked out.
Otherwise, very nice camp site.
