What Guests Are Saying
Alpine Meadow Campground offers a quiet and well-maintained environment with spacious campsites, making it a great choice for those exploring the Tahoe/Truckee area. Many visitors praised the cleanliness of the facilities and the helpfulness of the host. However, caution is advised regarding potential health concerns from tall grass, and some noise from nearby trains and the airport may be an issue for light sleepers.

Great campground in Truckee, far from the highway so much less noise that other campgrounds nearby. A bunch of hiking/biking trails accessible right from the campground, with Northstar being literally at riding distance. The campground is right next to a small airport but was not too noisy, I think there was only 2 planes I noticed taking off while I was there. Recommended!

Other campers were quiet and respectful. The pit toilets are very stinky

This was our second trip to Alpine Meadows Campground. Each time I am impressed on how clean the campground is kept. The sites are ample size and most have been constructed with shade in mind. I find that the sites on the outside of the circle probably get the most shade with the ones on the outside of the circle in the first half seeming to have the most. The first time we went, we had AT&T fo cell service and there was no service within the campground, but if we went to the flag pole at the enterence we were able to get full bars, this was 4 years ago, might be better now. This trip we have Tmobile. We were able to get 2 to 3 bars of 4G throughout the entire campground with a few spots getting full bars. It was enough to make phone calls or use the internet browser. Was here to unplug though so only used the cell as needed to check local information sites, which we never had an issue doing with the service available. I love how quiet this Campground is and generally everyone that this camp attracts is super friendly. It's a great location of hiking and biking trails. Martis Creek Lake is close by. It's a little bit of a walk but driving from the campground is about 3 to 4 minutes only because the road is rough and dirt/gravel, it is in good repair though. The road to the lake cuts off right at the enterence to the campground so it's super close. Took my kids about 10 to 15 minutes to walk it when we were here several years ago. This is a great campground for families. The traffic is slow, because speed limit is I think 10 mph but the road around the campground doesn't support faster (bumps, small/one lane). KIDS DO RIDE BIKES AND SCOOTERS AROUND THE CAMPGROUND SO MAKE SURE TO STAY GOING SLOW AND WATCH! Overall, it was a great trip to unplug and get away for a while. I also loved the there is space between sites so you are not right up next to your neighbor. Bathrooms have stalls, sinks, paper towels, toilet paper and hand sanitizer.
