What Guests Are Saying

Boca Campground offers stunning views, spacious sites, and a peaceful atmosphere, making it a great choice for camping. Many visitors appreciate the cleanliness, beautiful scenery, and the helpful camp host. However, some challenges include a lack of water access, steep paths to the lake, and occasional noise from nearby campers. Overall, it remains a favored location for its scenic beauty and convenient proximity to Reno.

The campground and facilities were well kept; the host was friendly and knowledgable. Most of the individual sites had good shade and views of the water. Some of the sites are located close to one another, so if a party is loud it sounds like they are on your site. Other than that, the campground was well maintained and I will be visiting again in the future.

There was major construction taking place when I arrived at Boca Campground. Heavy equipment was working on the dam that holds back the Boca Reservoir. The normal access road was blocked and alternate routes to the campground were difficult to find or understand. This situation caught me by surprise, as it was getting dark. The area is beautiful, but better warnings of this type of work should be communicated to reservation holders.

We were unaware of the detour road to the campground. It took additional 1:15 hour to get there. Vault toilets were not cleaned often. Planning, instructions and quality definitely needs to improve. It will be really hard to get back to this ground.

We absolutely LOVE camping at Boca. It would be a 30 min drive from Reno but since we have to go around it takes us and extra hour. But we still love camping there. We did however have a major issue with the ranger. He gave us two warnings stating that we did not turn out/off our fire pit when in fact we had not used it yet, as we cooked on our stoves. The other issue we had was that there were a bunch of people that showed up after dark looking for a campsite and were causing a lot of ruckus with full blown speakers and their vehicle toys. Other than that we will definitely keep booking our spots there.

The ground is hard, but it is still worth it! The views are beautiful and the water is great! The walk down to the water can be a little difficult and steep depending on which was you go. Bathrooms are a little far if you camp at the end towards the water.
