Boca Rest is a great location. DO NOT expect a manicured campground with trees & amenities. DO expect a very nice place with direct lake access. It needs some maintenance & could use a few upgrades, but the bathroom (vault toilets) are generally kept clean, and it's always been safe for us.

I hit a large rock damaging my motorhome step and side body at Boca Rest on August17th. This was 12 hours after another camper hit it damaging his step and muffler moving the rock even more into the road. After reportingvit to the camp host and Nick at Tahoe Hospitality they didn't even bothered the mark it with an orange cone and refused to give me a contact person with Tahoe hospitality saying it wasnt their liability.

Nice spot for campers with travel trailers and fifth wheels. Not for tents. Rocky uneven spots and very small non private spaces.
Very limited shade. Our campground could only accommodate one tent would not be big enough for our group of 6

We had a great stay at this campsite! Our camp host, Ben, was absolutely wonderful. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and always friendly and welcoming. He stopped by our campsite to chat and was happy to share information about the area, current burn conditions, and everything going on nearby. We really appreciated how attentive and informative he was. Ben was a fantastic host and definitely made our stay even better!

Nice basic bare campground, could use some shade trees. No fish in the lake come August timeframe, so if you plan on fishing go earlier in the year.

When we arrived Sunday the previous occupants hadn't left yet, nor did they leave until 8pm.
We were unable to set up in daylight or prepare our dinner has planned.

Be very careful using Recreation.gov to make reservations. Use the list view of the campsite vs. using the map to select camp sites. The map view will show sites available or first-come-first-served, the the list view will show sites being already reserved.
The campsite has very little shade, but is right on the lake. The camp host, Ben, was super-helpful.

“It’s a nice campground overall, but be very careful when maneuvering larger vehicles. Boulders have been placed throughout the campground to control traffic, and there seem to be far more than necessary. To make matters worse, the weeds were tall enough to completely hide some of them. I ended up scraping my motorhome on a boulder that I simply couldn’t see.
I’d strongly suggest the campground remove most of the unnecessary boulders and keep the remaining ones clearly visible and free of weeds. Until then, this is just a warning to other RVers—especially those with larger motorhomes—to be extremely careful when pulling in or out of a site.”

Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
Vehicles & parking
- Off-road vehicles are restricted to entry and exit; recreational use is prohibited.
General

Fires & fuel
- Campfires and charcoal fires may be restricted during hot, dry weather. Check with the Truckee Ranger District for updates.
- To protect forests, use local firewood and do not transport firewood. Firewood may be available from the campground host.
Site types & loops
- Launching watercraft from the campground shoreline is prohibited; use designated areas instead.
Fees & deposits
- One vehicle is included with your reservation; additional vehicles incur a $10 per night fee, payable at the campground entrance.
Site capacity
- Only one RV is allowed per campsite.
- Each site allows up to 6 people and 2 dogs. Dogs must be leashed or confined; violations may result in notices.
