What Guests Are Saying
Granite Flat campground is praised for its beautiful location near the Truckee River, clean facilities, and friendly camp hosts, making it a popular choice for annual visits. Many campers appreciate the easy access to outdoor activities like biking and floating, and the well-maintained restrooms add to the positive experience. However, road noise from nearby Highway 89 is a common concern, particularly at night, which can detract from the overall tranquility of the site.

Love to camp here, close to Truckee and Lake Tahoe, right on the river. Basic campground with pit toilets but a great place to enjoy nature! Some sites face the road which gets a lot of noise from traffic, we just run a fan at night for white noise.

The campground is in a great location with one exception, it’s right next to hwy 89. It sits on the river which is beautiful, but the road noise outweighs the beauty of the river. It was clean and easy to get to. Spots are very close together—I was in spot 61. When my neighbors arrived, I thought they had taken my table because it was right outside my kitchen window. Paving needs to be redone throughout the campground. It’s cheap to camp there, but would be a better experience with some upgrades.

We stayed 3 nights in site 59, which is a great site near the river. The only negative about this campground is the proximity to the road—you’ll hear a lot of road noise. Luckily the river drowned out some of it, but it’s still noticeable and does take away from the experience. Site 59 was perfect for our 35-ft fifthwheel, although we did have to squeeze our truck in. The campground is a great location for exploring the area—just minutes from Truckee, Donner Memorial State Park, Donner Lake, and of course Lake Tahoe. The weather during our visit was perfect, and we’d return if we were in the area.
