What Guests Are Saying
Granite Flat campground is praised for its beautiful location near the Truckee River, clean facilities, and friendly camp hosts, making it a popular choice for annual visits. Many campers appreciate the easy access to outdoor activities like biking and floating, and the well-maintained restrooms add to the positive experience. However, road noise from nearby Highway 89 is a common concern, particularly at night, which can detract from the overall tranquility of the site.

We had one of the walk in campsites and the 1st night was fine, but the second night a group of 10+ people arrived next to us and we're super loud and playing music until 4:30am. There was not camphost to enforce the quiet hours or answer any questions.

There was no camp hosts on site. A very large group of mountain bikers was overloading 4 camping spots near us. They were very loud and played some kind of music well after midnight. After speaking to the temporary camp hosts 2 days later after 3 nights of late night music we were told we should have called 911 for the Sheriff to come out and break up the party. The temp camp hosts said that’s what they were told to do to avoid a confrontation with any campers.

Loved this... sites are a little close, but that made it easier to meet our neighbors and was not problematic.

We reserved site #59 right on the Truckee river and near the restroom, very convinent. The campground is right along a major road, so kind of noisey. The best sites to reserve are the ones along the river, a little quiter. It's very easy to get to the town of Truckee.

There was no potable water at the campground; something I was not notified about until the day after arrival. There was no campground manager; a manager from another site was not only overseeing his own campground, but also Granite Flat and one or two other sites. He was understandably overwhelmed. Campsites had not been flagged as reserved for the four days preceding my visit. Again, the acting manager was NOT to blame.

Great campground right on Truckee River. We had spot 60 which was near south end of campground. Lots of space between sites and near lots of trails. Saw a bear across the river on our first day there.

Everything was good. Only issue was there was no potable water which we were a little disappointed with. Thought maybe that would be something we could be warned about in advance.
