Nice spot. Flush toilets were a surprise. Great hike accessible from the campground to Mastadon Peak & Mine from Cottonwood Spring

This is a well maintained, clean and quiet campground almost exclusively used by RVs. Most sites are not very private and, because of its close proximity to Interstate 10, many sites turn over on a daily basis. However, site A1 is good for tent camping, private, and has a very good view with spectacular sunsets. It's not the best campground for your base if you plan to spend several days exploring the park though, because it's nearly 40 miles just to reach the central part of the park. Also, it's in the lower Colorado desert where there are no Joshua trees.

Great site for short hikes.
About 25 mile drive to see Joshua trees at Arch Rock.
Rangers were knowledgable.

Campsite was clean and well organized. Great star gazing. Sites were a bit close together, but very nice.

The campground was fine, but the campground was much much busier and noisier than what we’ve experienced at Jumbo Rocks or Black Rock.

What a fantastic campground! It’s just unfortunate. There was so much wind, but I guess that’s the lay of the land. All the facilities were in order and the host was fantastic especially on the chilly night with the big screen projecting the game. Definitely a do over. The hiking in the area was fantastic as well.
