There is no cell reception (T-Mobile nor Verizon) at the campground but there are potable water spigots and flushing toilets at each loop. The sites are close together so hopefully you don't have a noisy neighbor. Like other comments, you may experience ppl who come to the campground to drink and party. There was one group that I could hear all night, They showed up late on a Saturday evening, grabbed an unoccupied site, drank and left the next morning.
There are hiking trails accessible directly from the campground. The Mastodon Peak and Mastodon Mine are relatively easy to get to. The Lost Palm Oasis takes a bit more effort especially on a hot sunny day. Be sure you know your abilities before you take that trek.

My partner and I had a fantastic time at the Cottonwood campgrounds. We got to meet Don and his dog Red and they were a highlight of our trip. The way they care about Joshua Tree and the campgrounds is admiring. The bathrooms were very clean and our campsite was in a perfect spot. I highly recommend to anyone looking to make a trip to Joshua Tree to use this campsite! We made a lot of amazing memories there and only stayed for 1 night! Definitely will be making another trip sometime.

Very nice camping spot. We had a roadside spot that was nice but would be better for camper vans with no slide outs. We were unable to put our slideout all the way out and worried about people hitting us. Even numbers are back ins and odd numbers are roadside. They park is very clean and lots of space between sites

Donβt stay at B22 unless you enjoy a view of the bathroom and little else.
