Amazing spot for stargazing and sunrise. Clean spots and lots of vault toilets around.

Great area but sites a bit too close to each other.
Most pit toilets were very clean except for the one near our site.

There is a great view of the valley and some phone service at the far end of the campground. There is a path to the north from the same spot that is a great view of the sunset.

Site was small but perfect for my 2 person backpacking tent. Rocks and bushes blocked sun in the morning and afternoon so we didn’t wake up or wind down sweaty! Short walk to nearby restroom. Quiet site with a good deal of privacy. Parking is shared with site 29 so depending on how many vehicles they bring, you might have to park elsewhere.

this was a beautiful site with stunning views. The downsides, our site #053, was down wind from the pit toilets which smelled awful when the wind was blowing in our direction which seemed frequently, it's on the main campground road so there was quite a bit of traffic coming and going.

The campground was great, with amazing boulders to climb on right next to the campsite, perfect for morning or evening exercise. The vault toilets were fine, not too stinky and pretty clean. It was helpful to have a 5gal container for water, since there's no water at the campsite itself. That way you know you have plenty and don't need to stress about it. This campground doesn't give driving access to the park, but it was a hot weekend so during the day we just did a loop drive in the North entrance and out the West entrance -- stopping anywhere we found a parking spot and saw some nice boulders for shade and pretty wildflowers blooming. It was a beautiful drive and though we saw lots of people in the park, we were able to avoid the crowds easily.

Location was best at Joshua Tree for setting up camp and exploring.

The campground is incredible - situated in what feels like a bowl - with lots of easy climbing for adults and kids and the campsites are nicely spread out. The sunset and sunrise were excellent.

Breathtaking view of stars at night. Bathroom was clean and easily accessible. We had a great time overall, though it is good to note some sites are much smaller than others. Be mindful of the maximum people per campsite to book what works best for you.
