What Guests Are Saying
Jumbo Rocks Campground offers a clean and well-maintained environment with stunning views, quiet nights, and easy access to hiking trails and climbing opportunities. Many campsites provide a sense of privacy and seclusion, especially if chosen wisely, while facilities like clean restrooms enhance the camping experience. However, some sites are closely situated, which can lead to noise and foot traffic from neighbors, and the presence of bees may be bothersome for some visitors.

Great spots for kids to scramble on the rocks. Campsites can be small, so make sure you know what you are booking.

Campsite 89 was great with nice rocks to climb for kids and adults. Also, it was nice to not have cell service so we could enjoy a digital detox.

We were at site #9. It seems to have a third of the space of the other sites.
There was barely space to set our tent, little privacy.
It seems, upon numbering the sites, #9 was forgotten and an additional site with too little space was created to avoid having to re-number al other sites ...
Otherwise great campground!

In general, most of the campsites here are right next to each other. However this particular site was secluded enough to my liking. Still close to neighboring sites, but not arm's reach away. And you're right up against several outcrops. Basically nothing behind you but J-Tree wilderness. Chef's kiss baby.

Great campsite with fire pit and bbq! Everyone had fun exploring the surrounding rocks and the a night hike to Skull Rock at night to get away from the crowds is a must!

First time in Joshua Tree and we had a blast camping here! Great site, easy to find, and the walk from the parking spot to the site is very short. Bathroom is right across the way and was shockingly clean with plenty of TP. The boulders provided awesome built-in entertainment for our 2 kids, who spent hours just running around and pretending it was their own world- so engrossed they forgot iPads existed for the 3 days we were there.
Minor cons/points to consider: be careful where you set your tent, we didn't really consider wind direction and set up downwind of the fire pit. There are basically 2 spots where you can realistically set up a tent- the one closer to the fire ring was flatter but very strong winds meant we couldn't really do much of a fire bc the embers were blowing into the tent- next time we might deal with the slope and set up behind the grill, depending on the winds. Also, be aware that your neighbors in 114 and 116 will be very close, enough so that you will hear almost every conversation (also a reminder to keep your voices down for your neighbors' sake). Regardless, we loved it and we're already booked again for the fall!
