Reserving the site on recreation.gov was quite easy. I have camped in spot 54 many times before and this was the first time I had to clean my campsite before I could use it. I found used condom wrappers and a used condom in the site. I found a lot of other garbage as well. The bathrooms were also in need of attention. I camped in this spot a month ago and noticed the light over the women's restroom toilets was not working. The light in the shower worked but not the toilet area. The toilet paper could be refreshed more often as well. I brought my own this time in response to running out last time and needed it this time.

Kids out for summer equals noisey!
And it was!
Impolite, hostile and uncaring.
Pretty typical of young adults these days.

I have been camping at New Hogan lake for 40 years. I was hoping to make the same memories with my kids as I did when I was a child.

I have been going to New Hogans for 34 years. We love the lake but the campground’s are not being kept up! The restrooms were disgusting!!! There was dead frogs in the showers and the toilets were so gross toilet paper and poop in the men’s urinals. They really need to bring back camp ground hosts. We never saw a ranger cruse through the campgrounds once!! We will come back but I’m bring cleaning supplies to clean the restrooms!!!
I have a lot of pride In recreation site to let it fail. I hope my review of this recreation site will hit home and make a difference! PS long time and hopeful future camper

Our campsite was amazing, the water was beautiful!! We caught a couple of catfish. The only thing I would say is, they let some pretty shady and loud disrespectful people camp there. Other then that we had an amazing time and a good show or two!

Campground was nice. Crowded, so not the most 'in-nature' experience, but a great place for a weekend by the lake with family and friends.

Beautiful place to go camping, all quiet, you can do many activities such as walking, swimming, mountain biking, etc., with some small flaws such as cleanliness and lighting in the bathrooms, but in general, highly recommended.

Loved our campsite itself and how close it was to the lake. Great shade too! The restrooms were absolutely horrendous though...they looked as if they had never been cleaned - that is one of the reasons we go there, the flushing toilets and what not. Overall a great site.
