What Guests Are Saying
Peltier Bridge Primitive Campground offers a beautiful setting near Clear Creek, with several sites providing easy access to hiking and swimming opportunities. Most sites are well-maintained and provide a peaceful, private camping experience, although some have issues with trash and restroom cleanliness. Overall, it's a great choice for last-minute camping trips, especially for those seeking tranquility and nature.

We thoroughly enjoyed campsite #9, plenty of shade and secluded at the end of the loop of these primitive campsites. We had access to the creek as do most of the sites, and campsites 6, 7 and 8 seemed to be the next best choices. If you want to be close to the vault restrooms, you might want sites 4 and 5, with 1,2 and 3 off in another section. The campground is a short drive away from Whiskeytown Dam and lake, with great swimming at Brandy Creek and East Beach. The Visitor Center had several park rangers on duty who were an excellent source of information.

Nice little camp area. 4x4 road was closed by big rocks. Not a real defined access to water. Camp site itself was very well maintained. Clean Pit toilets

Lovely little campground! It was pretty clean overall, except for a few bits of trash left behind; things like bottle caps and plastic wrappers (which I picked up during our stay). We walked the loop to check out the other sites, and in our opinion, campsite #1 is the best. It's secluded, spacious, and has a small brook running right next to it—perfect for washing up since there’s no running water at the campground.
Some of the other sites labeled “creek access” just have a narrow path through a ton of blackberry bushes that ends in a tiny spot on the creek -standing room for 1 person, and the water was rushing pretty fast there. Not super useful for swimming or recreating. #2 seemed to have the best creek access, with a nice spot where the water slows down, perfect for jumping in.
Only downside: there is poison oak EVERYWHERE, so be careful where you step and sit.
Still, we had a great time and would definitely come back!

Great spots. Only complaint would be the bugs. Severe amounts of ants absolutely everywhere and the obvious spiders, beetles, etc. are expected but the ants were outrageous. Be sure to bring a lot of wood for fires because there's no much for foraging your own other than sticks. But that said if you are prepared for all of that it's a great little area to camp.
