About Crane Flat Campground

Crane Flat Campground is closed for the winter.Please be mindful of young plants and shrubs by keeping all wheels on parking pads and camping equipment within established campsites.Crane Flat Campground is located in breathtaking Yosemite National Park in Central California's rugged Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. The site is conveniently located 17 miles from Yosemite Valley at an elevation of 6,200 feet. Within Yosemite, visitors can gaze upon waterfalls, sheer granite cliffs, deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, vast wilderness areas and so much more.Reservation Tips! Campsites in Yosemite are extremely popular and typically sell out in minutes. Login to your account or create a new account before the 7:00 a.m. (PST) release time. You may only add reservations to your cart and proceed with your reservation if you are logged into your account. Camp site was beautiful. The camping spot I got was spacious and restroom near by. Men’s restroom was not working but there was another one near by. Close by to the village to do family activities. A lot of hiking near by.

beautiful camp site. clean bathrooms and fresh running water. quiet but still close to the mountain road and very close to a gas station/convenience store. hopefully i will be returning next year!

Bathrooms were fair, dishwashing station/potable water area set up was strange and always clogged with food/standing water, campsites were fine/well shaded but very close together and unfortunately the noise level from several neighboring sites in the campground was TERRIBLE (worst I’ve ever experienced as a frequent camper) and quiet hours were not enforced at all. Earplugs are essential!

A gorgeous, clean, safe campground in an unparalleled setting. It’s located really close to the park’s only gas station/general store. My husband saw a stag come right into our campsite late one night while stargazing.

Wish they stick to the silent hours at 10 still loud kinda loud after 10 but overall the place is great and the campground overall is pretty amazing love it.

Policies & Rules

General

  • You are responsible for reading the site alerts and booking a site that will accommodate your equipment. The campground has had a complete overhaul and every site has changed.
  • If arriving one or more days late, call (209) 379-2123; your reservation will be cancelled if we do not hear from you within 24 hours of your arrival date.
  • Bring proof of your reservation (screen shot or paper version). There is no internet access, cell service or public phone at Crane Flat.You must sign in at the entrance of the campground or you will be considered a no show and your reservation cancelled.Make your site look occupied--leave a chair or other equipment so we know you've arrived.
  • Bears and wildlife live here! Food, scented items and toiletries must be stored 24 hours/day. Absolutely NO food stored in vehicles!Food lockers are provided in all campsites and measure 35 inches deep x 43 inches wide x 28 inches high.Dispose of garbage immediately in bear-proof dumpsters or in your locker. Do NOT hang garbage bags in your site!
  • No electric, water, or sewer hookups are available at this facility, however, a dump station is located in Yosemite Valley, as are showers.
  • Resale or auction of advance reservations is prohibited.
  • There is no electricity and therefore, no lights in this campground. Bring a light source!
  • For additional park information, call (209)372-0200 or visit www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit 
  • Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
  • Help Yosemite be a Zero Landfill park! Leave excess packaging at home. Use refillable water & propane bottles, food containers and travel mugs. Place all of your recyclable waste in designated recycling containers. For more information go to: https://www.nps.gov/yose/getinvolved/zlf.htm
