Our campsite was amazing, but most are pretty close together. The location of the campground has views of creek, river and half dome, and short bike ride to the villages and mirror/mist trails.. Tubing the Merced was really fun, and the bear bins are good size for cooler and food bins. The bathrooms were kept clean and park staff were very friendly and helpful.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at North Pines in Yosemite. We called the campground office to let them know we were backpacking into the valley and not positive on our arrival date and they made sure to hold onto our reservation and not cancel it for a no show, when we arrived over a day late. Site 303 worked for us and was right beside the restrooms. We enjoyed watching the backpackers leaving from the backpackers campground, as they mostly walked right past the site. Tenaya Creek was right across the road and the kids enjoyed playing there. The only thing that was unpleasant was the fact that through the hottest part of the day, there was no shade. So it was definitely not the place to be from 10-4.

Quiet, respectful co-campers in this backpackers campground in the valley.

Campground hosts were informative and friendly.
Fellow campers were friendly and respectful.
Would be really nice if bathrooms had soap dispensers.
Would be really nice if campfires were banned - air quality gets pretty bad.

Excellent location for valley hikes -- we walked to the Vernal Falls and the Mirror Lake hikes, and we also walked down to the village area most nights. Site 101 is one of the best sites in the CG. The site was fairly level and wide enough to fit our 27' Class C and Honda CRV toad. This site has none next to it, so your "front yard" is about the size of 3 regular campsites. In addition, the site is riverfront and near the bridge. Since it's right next to the gatehouse, people are actually driving 5 mph or less (unlike what tends to happen away from the eyes of rangers). The nearby bathroom had running cold water but no soap. If I could ever get this sit again, I'd definitely go for it. The sites next to us were much more closely packed.
