I liked the Nature Center at Black Rock Canyon Campground. There was a nice kids' art display. We stayed the previous night at Indian Cove, which we liked a lot better, much more picturesque. Black Rock has flush toilets and sinks, which were nicer than the vault toilets at Indian Cove. And we did see a road runner at Black Rock. But there were quite a number of people who came in late and left very early. And it was rather windy all night. It wasn't bad, we just preferred Indian Cove.

We love Blackrock Campground. Easy access to hiking trails that vary from easy to difficult. It's always been a nice, quiet campground with friendly staff. Easy drive to Yucca to explore and only a short drive to the JTNP west entrance. Restrooms are always clean.

The campground is well maintained and well laid out. We stayed in the off-season, so it wasn‘t very full and there wasn’t any staff onsite. Unfortunately, this meant that some campers felt that it was ok to not be considerate of others and not follow the rules about quiet hours and generator use. We had noisy campers way past midnight and again from 5am. We even called the non-emergency number to ask for help with campers refusing to turn off their generator when we politely pointed out the generator hours. But there didn’t seem to be anything that could be done about it. If you would like to be sure to have a peaceful and quiet camping experience then maybe go elsewhere.
