This is becoming our favorite campground! The lower loop by the river is definitely the place to be, with lots of shade trees and easy access to the water. Going in early June this time, the river was much higher and colder than later in the season. But it was still beautiful and enjoyable. Bathrooms are clean and there's now a little general store about 2 mi away for any forgotten items or more firewood.

Aspen Glade is a very nice Colorado campground on the Conejos. Most of the camp sites have pine trees for shade. We stayed on top level and experienced some mosquitoes. I did not confirm, but suspect, there would be more mosquitoes on the bottom level sites next to the river. River access for quality water (no bait fishing) is easy. Our site was an easy back-in for our Airstream. We will return to Aspen Glade.

My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay at Aspen Glade. Our site was on the hill and we had a beautiful view of the Conejos river below and could hear the rushing water. We had a little shade to sit under when we chose and we were far enough away from other campers to run our generator and not bother others. There was also plenty of sun if you are using solar. There are many sites down by the river that are equally beautiful and offer more shade. Anglers will appreciate fly fishing right there in the campground or traveling up a gravel road that runs along the Conejos River just a ways down the road from the campground. It is a nice trip up the road if you don't mind dust. There is a beautiful reservoir at the top of the mountain there. We will return and hope to stay longer next time. The only drawback is there is no dump station there, but I am told you can pay to dump at a private campground just down the road.
