The campground itself was MAGICAL, but it got REALLY cold at night. Check out the night temperatures before you schedule! We stayed at Site 009, which was beautiful but the creek was not visible. Sites 13 and 14 are just by the creek and they look fantastic!

Loved this trip. The sites were spaced out nicely, the bathrooms were clean and it was a well kept site. Definitely will be going again. My husband caught fish every day we were there.

The location is superb: hike Duck Lake and the Elk Creek Trails, walk along the Conejos, or take a drive up FR 250 toward Platoro for additional hiking. The campsites are well spaced out.

I've stayed at this campground several times over the past ten+ years and never been disappointed. The campground is well maintained by the hosts. I primarily stay at this Elk Creek CG for the fly fishing access to the Conejos River but there are plenty of mountain views to be enjoyed throughout the Conejos Valley. It's also convenient to the Cumbre and Toltec Scenic RR, either in Antonito or Chama. A particularly good campground for trainspotters.

Great campground! Big sites, well groomed, gravel sites with picnic tables. Restrooms were well maintained. Camp host was very proactive in taking care of campground…checking on campers, picking up trash, etc. We plan on returning in the future!

Nice quiet campground, especially during the week. Great sites, has water, toilets, and wonderful views. A creek runs right through it.
It is dry camping, but if you like that, you'll love Elk Creek
