Campground was well situated for activities either up in the pass or in Aspen. Experience with the camp hosts was poor due to the fact they were never there. Over the course of our three day stay we tried on numerous occasions to find them at their site or elsewhere without success.

The campground was pretty expensive for not having amenities like flush toilets and showers, but it was the closest to Aspen. The site itself was spacious but the tent area wasn’t totally flat; there were roots and rocks that made it awkward to position the tent and sleeping. The campground was lovely and very close to the Difficult Trail. I would camp here again.

We love coming to Difficult Campground for an easy get away just outside of Aspen! The sites are always clean and ready for the next camper. Our favorite is the group site because it's tucked away along the Roaring Fork river, so we can have a good size group and not worry about being too loud.

Great campground located about 4 miles from Aspen, surrounded by forests and mountains. Most sites have nice privacy and shade. Amenities include pit toilets, trash and water. Arrived back to camp at night one night and saw a moose right outside the campground. Beautiful spot, very peaceful, would recommend.

This campground is kept very clean. We were in site 5 & we did have some road noise, but it wasn’t horrible. The sites are mostly private & wooded. The entire campground is quite pretty. The toilets were clean & not smelly. The best thing about this place is it’s proximity to Aspen!

I like this campground and have been coming here for many years. A nice spot with a few challenges such as it is not very private and lack of signs for hikers can be a big challenge.

Big Flat campsite, lots of trees and vegetation making you feel like you are isolated and far away from other campers even though they are right next to you. Although lots of trees/vegetation, numerous sites have no shade, you'll have to come see and experience for yourself. Wildlife, moose spent several hours in the morning eating breakfast in our site and tripped over several guy ropes holding the tent down. Not a lot to do directly in the campground, but location is close to Aspen and a few shorter hikes. Neither loved nor hated, if in the area may stay again out of necessity.
