What Guests Are Saying
Radium Recreation Area offers beautiful scenery along the Colorado River, with clean facilities and friendly camp hosts who provide helpful information. While some campers noted issues like noise from trains, prairie dog activity, and maintenance concerns, many appreciated the peaceful and less crowded atmosphere compared to nearby areas. Overall, it's a great spot for rafting and fishing, though campers should prepare for potential disturbances and bring earplugs.

Great hidden little campground. Watch out for bugs (especially by the river) and the magpies (they’ll steal anything not bolted down as soon as you walk away).

Camp host was very informational, even though we were familiar with the area. You can float around right at the campground and cool off. Lots of Prairie Dog holes around, so be sure you have a headlamp or flashlight at night. Fully stocked on toilet paper in the many restrooms. We did not get parking passes however, which were included in camping, so we got warnings on our vehicles the following day while we were on the river. Need to follow up and be sure they were just warnings and not tickets!

Bad first: train comes by early in the morning with the horns blaring. That’s why it’s 4/5.
Other than that it’s a nice big spot. Close to the river. Did the pump house run down to radium. Reminder bring cash ($10) if you plan on parking a car at pump house while you go down the river. You can stop by the warm springs along the way.

It is a good spot, very popular They need to do something about the prairie dogs. So many of them and their droppings are everywhere.

It took us 15 minutes to find our campsite because we had to walk to it and showed up after sundown. Once we found it there was plenty of space to set up a tent and surprisingly bugs were minimal.

The area is gorgeous, the campsites are level and convenient to restrooms. The three star rating comes from the unfortunate experience of having a dog from the nearby ranch bark literally all night. Nothing anyone at the campground can do, of course, but it was pretty bad. Maybe there were coyotes? I love dogs, I have a barker, and it still kept me up. Put in the ole ear plugs and I slept like a baby!

The camp host Kelly was fantastic, genuinely cares about folks at her campsite and checked in to be sure we had anything we needed without being too present. She was there for a trip last week I had with my fishing club, and when I brought my daughter camping the following week. The place was well kept and quiet. I'll be back next year!
