Pumphouse Recreation Area

Great campsite in a beautiful location. Camp was clean and well maintained.

Beautiful campground

Someone fishing parked their vehicle in middle of the parking area and couldn't be found for several hours. Camp host was helpful but limited in his ability remove vehicle.

The rangers and staff were extremely helpful. The stars at night were breathtaking.

Nice little space near the Colorado River. There are plenty of spots to get into the river including a boat launch just a short walk from the site. Be cautious getting here as the entire journey from the highway is unpaved and there is no cell service anywhere near the campgrounds. You may want to bring earplugs to sleep at night as the railroad across the river can be incredibly loud.

The camp host was very friendly and helpful. The sites a larger than we expected and adequate privacy.

The campsite itself was great - spacious, included picnic table- and was in a scenic area close to the river.
My only complaints- people started showing up before 7 am and the parking lot was quite close to the campsite- and they were not making any effort to be quiet. Also, there' is a train just across the river that seems to run only in the middle of the night, and it's quite loud.

Some campgrounds were nicely spaced. Others were crammed together and desolate looking.
Access to the river was good, busy.
Beautiful Colorado valley.

Better be ready for raccoons- and lots of em! We had a really very pleasant campsite with access to a shady spot along the river. No complaints but just be aware there are marauding bands of raccoons- 8 to 10 anyway- that are very bold about getting into anything and everything.
On a more positive note, hiking the Gore Canyon Trail, and better yet the Argentine Trail through the canyons is an exceptional experience!
