What Guests Are Saying
Pumphouse Recreation Area is praised for its great location near the river, beautiful surroundings, and improved facilities such as potable water and friendly camp hosts. Many visitors enjoy fishing and the peaceful atmosphere, though some express concerns about cleanliness and the recent mandatory reservation system, which has made access less convenient. Overall, while there are areas for improvement, many guests look forward to returning to this scenic spot.

We floated from Pumphouse Campground to Rancho Del Rio, stopping at the miner's cabin, hot springs, and had lunch at Radium. The water flow was 1160 cfs, so most rocks were covered and there were a lot of waves. At Rancho Del Rio, we hiked back to see the dinosaur tracks. We used to float until Yarmony Bridge, but the cars are safer at Rancho Del Rio. It costs $10 to leave your car there. We did our own shuttle.

Love camping there before launching a trip down the Upper C! Too bad we can't tie up the raft at sites 9 - 12, but the ban is understandable. One minor gripe: Grand County needs to grade CR 106 more often as the washboards get really rough.

We stayed in site #13 with our 27' trailer. Easy and fairly level site that parks along the road (no backing in). Beautiful site with a view of the river. Access to water at the entry of the area was closed due to upgrades being done which wasn't a big deal for us, but if tent campers don't haul in their own water it could be an issue.

Pleasant & much cooler weather than Texas. We stayed at site #1, back-in, close to the lake. Only stayed 1 nite. Camp Host was very friendly & helpful. We would stay again, even if for a shirt visit.

Not having water and no hope of it getting replaced this season was very disappointing! Camp host Barb was great! She controls the madness!!
