What Guests Are Saying
Pumphouse Recreation Area is praised for its great location near the river, beautiful surroundings, and improved facilities such as potable water and friendly camp hosts. Many visitors enjoy fishing and the peaceful atmosphere, though some express concerns about cleanliness and the recent mandatory reservation system, which has made access less convenient. Overall, while there are areas for improvement, many guests look forward to returning to this scenic spot.

Site costs $33 ($25 plus $8 booking fee) and can’t even build a fire. Cars drove by site all day long.

We utilize pumphouse on a regular basis, and specifically the group campsites once a year. We love this area, the recreation and the people that use it. I was very impressed with the addition of CPW inspecting rafts, passing along knowledge of keeping the rivers clean, and having a boat washing station. Great to see this education after 12 years of using this area regularly. The lack of the camp host this year is showing with the cleanliness of the campground. There is a door missing at one of the restrooms, the hand sanitizer stations are empty (we were there for 6 days). The trash bins located in the group in the group camping area was disappointing and likewise were overflowing. We love this area and will continue to return, hope the funding from the feds is restored.

We enjoyed our stay at Pumphouse. We fished two days on the Upper Colorado and spent one night. The camp sites are pretty big but beware if you are bringing a big trailer as you park right along the road and any slides need to be opened away from the road. The road into Pumphouse is a washboard all the way so take it slow.

What a spot... what more can I say... as usual, had to drive halfway back to Kremmling to get cell service so I could book the site... small price to pay... can't wait to be back!

The new facilities building kept the exterior lights on all night. This campground used to be amazing, now it feels like we’re in the city. They need to turn the lights off at night.
