Beautiful campground. St. Charles campground was small, but nice. The campsite we had was perfect. It was close to the creek. Will definitely stay again in the future.

We reserved spot #9. Absolutely lovely spot! The creek runs right along the edge, so you can put your feet in the water or listen to the calming sounds of the running water! We have an F250 and tow a 32' 5th wheel. Due to the teamwork of my husband and son-in-law, the VERY tight squeeze was a challenge but not a failure! The spot took a lot of maneuvering, but the guys did it! Keep in mind, the camping spot across from #9 has a parking spot that, if filled, (Like it was when we arrived) will make backing a trailer way more difficult! I'm sure, that had the occupants of that site not been gone on a hike, they would have moved their parked car and it would have been 95% easier to back the 5th wheel into the site. I can tell you, had it been just me and my husband, we probably would have ended the evening in a huge fight!!!

The sites are far enough apart and privacy was not an issue. There are bear boxes. However, we saw no signs of any bears. Guess that's not necessarily a bad thing though! My hubby did get to see deer when he went exploring! The sites were clean and the views were beautiful! The host was a wonderful gentleman. He stopped by to make sure we did not have any concerns and let us know that he was available at anytime and let us know exactly where we could find him!

The lake is less than a mile away, but we had canoes to carry, so we drove down to the lake. It wasn't difficult to find a spot to park and off-load our canoes. The trail down to the lake was a great workout! It was beautiful both, along the lake and on the lake. There were several people fishing, however, we did not partake in any fishing ourselves. We were only there for one night and had wished we had more time to explore the area. There is a path that goes all the way around Lake Isabel. I would have liked to have hiked it, but time was not on our side. Maybe next time.....cuz there will be a next time!!

If you are considering camping at St. Charles, we highly recommend it!!

Good, clean campground. Our equipment is a 33' 5th Wheel - not all sites can fit. Just make sure! We backed 'er in to site 9 OK (uphill, turning hard, gravel - but certainly doable. Website says max 40'.
