Colorado Campground

We were disappointed that there was no posted information about the Teller County Stage 2 fire ban posted anywhere at the campground. Had a camper tell me about it and was told the sheriff could write $500 dollar tickets at the National Forrest campground for fires, charcoal grills etc. there was no ban at the national forest level only county and enforced by the sheriff. Also the camp host didn’t show up to our site until the day before we were to leave, and asked if we wanted a park pass, which I declined since we were leaving the following day. We arrived on Monday and left on Thursday, host didn’t come by until Wednesday, and made no mention about the firs ban either.
This place needs to do better to keep all campers notified of fire bans etc. what does it take to have a sign at the entrance, *NO FIRES SEE CAMP HOST*

It was a great location to visit Pikes Peak and Manitou incline. we spent most of our time in Woodland Park. We took a walk from the campground over to Manitou Park Lake and spoke with locals who were trout fishing.

We camped in a travel trailer on site 14. It was not very flat but we made it work. Fishing was good at Manitou Lake and the camp was awash with families having fun, without being obnoxious. That bathrooms were clean and water is available every few sites. The only real complaint I have is the placement of the Trash containers. You have to very carefully navigate around them with a truck and trailer, even to the point of going off the road at times. It would be great help if they could be moved back only 12 inches.

Site 67: BEWARE! 30' trailer does not fit this site. Had to switch to another open site as the angle to back in was not going to be possible. Smaller 20' rigs would be perfect for this site.

Opening weekend for CO campground was great. Weather mostly cooperated but it was unfortunate that Teller County in still in a Stage II fire ban so no open fires or flames. Still fun!

We were in site 77 and it was unbelievably unlevel for our motorhome. Do not recommend this site for an RV. There are not very many level sites in the campground for RV’s. Other than that, we enjoyed the campground. We love the Ponderosa pines and the grass throughout the campground. It is very close to Woodland Park which we really enjoy. It is within walking distance to Manitou Lake which is always nice to visit.

Spot 39 needs its picnic table moved, can’t sit there for dinner as legs don’t touch ground. The ground is eroding and what I call the north side is basically useless unless your 6 ft 5 in or taller. I have reported this for 2 years. This time the host said the the nation forest people have to look at it to see what can be done but park host or management can’t do anything till then. It is a favorite spot but now I have to find a differentt one as our friends can’t dine with us outside

This was a lovely campground and the hosts were great. The bathrooms were as clean as you can expect, and it was awesome the fee included access to the nearby lake. The only strange thing that happened was there were gunshots throughout the night, but they were definitely not occurring at the campsite itself.
