This place is really good if you have kids. Lots of places to climb and explore. The campfire situation is a little confusing, but the host does a great job of explaining the rules. (legal according to the forest service vs illegal for the county). I would come again though. Close to hiking and Manitou Lake (poor fishing, but pretty). This stall is long and skinny...backing in a trailer/camper would be pretty stressful because there are side markers/stumps on either side of the stall and there is not allot of room to maneuver on the road.

Was told by the host, this is one of the largest sites there. It backs up to open space and rocks to climb. Lots of shade and pretty wide stall. I was able to back in a 22' camper with ease because the stall faces a corner and the road is wider in this area. The surrounding area is grass/field and open. This is a pretty private spot with lots of room to run.

Painted rocks campground was a high point in my trip! A beautiful campground and not very crowded. Cathy, the campground host was a delight and kept the bathrooms and the entire campground spotless! Highly recommend!

From the I-25 and Highway 24 intersection in Colorado Springs, Colorado, travel west on Highway 24 for about 18 mi to the junction with Highway 67 in Woodland Park. Turn right (north) on Highway 67 and drive about 7 mi to Painted Rocks Road and turn left (west). Take the gravel road about 1/2 mi to campground entrance on the left.

The campground is accessible from Highway 24, which connects to I-25 in Colorado Springs, approximately 18 miles to the east. From Highway 24, travelers can take Highway 67 north for about 7 miles to reach Painted Rocks Road.
