Just a great campground! Jerry the Host does a great job in providing local knowledge and basic services. The camp sites have plenty of privacy in a beautiful setting in the trees with Red Sandstone spires on the property.
There is no wireless/mobile phone service (perfect!)... if you want KOA with Billy Bob in his shorts and no shirt 14 ft away.. do not camp at Painted Rocks.. go to KOA

We love Painted Rocks for its spacious sites, nearby rock formations, and easy access. Our only criticism is that the sites were numbered incorrectly on the website, so we thought we were reserving adjoining sites, but found that they were across the road from one another. It behooves the website manager to correct this error.

What a great experience. Not a long drive from Denver, but the grounds are beautiful, and the campsites we had were perfect for our six families with teenage kids. Well maintained. You're less than a mile from a beautiful lake for fishing or a hike. Not as remote as some campgrounds, but we'd definitely recommend it particularly for families in Denver-C Springs looking for a great camping experience without many hours in a car to get there.

From the I-25 and Highway 24 intersection in Colorado Springs, Colorado, travel west on Highway 24 for about 18 mi to the junction with Highway 67 in Woodland Park. Turn right (north) on Highway 67 and drive about 7 mi to Painted Rocks Road and turn left (west). Take the gravel road about 1/2 mi to campground entrance on the left.
Highway access
The campground is accessible from Highway 24, which connects to I-25 in Colorado Springs, approximately 18 miles to the east. From Highway 24, travelers can take Highway 67 north for about 7 miles to reach Painted Rocks Road.
