This site was amazing. There was a hiking trail that led directly from our tent site to a rock structure. Beautiful views. Lake Manitou was within walking distance. The only downside was the gunshot sounds from nearby. We could hear coyotes howling every night.

Just a great campground! Jerry the Host does a great job in providing local knowledge and basic services. The camp sites have plenty of privacy in a beautiful setting in the trees with Red Sandstone spires on the property.
There is no wireless/mobile phone service (perfect!)... if you want KOA with Billy Bob in his shorts and no shirt 14feet away.. do not camp at Painted Rocks.. go to KOA

We love Painted Rocks for its spacious sites, nearby rock formations, and easy access. Our only criticism is that the sites were numbered incorrectly on the website, so we thought we were reserving adjoining sites, but found that they were across the road from one another. It behooves the website manager to correct this error.

Beautiful, quiet, great for tents. Close enough to town to run in for forgotten items yet far enough to enjoy nature.

What a great experience. Not a long drive from Denver, but the grounds are beautiful, and the campsites we had were perfect for our six families with teenage kids. Well maintained. You're less than a mile from a beautiful lake for fishing or a hike. Not as remote as some campgrounds, but we'd definitely recommend it particularly for families in Denver-C Springs looking for a great camping experience without many hours in a car to get there.
