This is my favorite campground in Colorado. Edie and Felix never disappoint. They always greet us when we first arrive. The sites are well groomed and bathrooms are immaculate. I will be so sad when they finally do retire.

Probably the best NFS campground I have stayed at. All the sites are nice, spacious, some backing to the Rio Grande river, some with rocks, but all with at least some shade. Bathrooms spotless and smell-less. The hosts are very engaged in keeping it lovely, are super-friendly, and also brought a couple of frisbee golf holes and frisbees, and horseshoes for general use. Most campers were in RV's but a few (us included) had tents. The only negative was that the campsite markers all had solar-powered lights zip-tied to them, so at night the darkness experience was somewhat lessened especially for tent campers, and any camper should bring a headlamp so I didn't see the point. The campground is accessed by a 9 mile dirt road that had some washboards but otherwise was wide and didn't require 4WD. There is one relatively level trail out of the campground (a couple of miles one way) that leads to a small box canyon on the river. We saw moose, mergansers and chicks, raptors, hummingbirds, deer, squirrels and ground squirrels. There is potable water and bear-proof garbage containers.

This is a remote and serene campsite. Edie and Felix, the hosts, are warm and caring and do a wonderful job of maintaining the individual sites. We recommend bringing enough drinking water for your stay. While the provided water is potable, it is a bit cloudy.

Excellent campground because of excellent host, Eddie! Its absolutely spotless and well maintained. Quiet hours are strictly observed and appreciated. Clean and manicured sites also. Gorgeous location with fishing and hiking. Biking is limited to dirt roads.

Beautiful site, beautiful drive to the site. Perfectly placed for everything I wanted to do within the area (30min-1.5hr radius). I camp a lot in CO, as a 23yr resident. I’ve never written a review. I was disappointed in the camp hosts. I arrived and while looking for my site found myself at about 7miles (in a 5mph zone). Got yelled at by host to slow down. I then was approached by host at my site, that I was (maybe 2-3inches) parked IN the campsite. (I was literally backed up to where the campsite started vs driveway)). This was base camp so I only slept there and spent maybe 2-4 waking hours at site, but was told to slow down (one day I literally was going THREEmph), and/or watched by hosts. Everything was clean and campers were mostly great- several loud sites after quiet hours, but after full days of recreation, I was in bed by 8 and too tired to care when I got woken. Hosts make a difference.
