The campground tables are unusable, bring your own table. There is a dirt road across the river, everything was covered in dirt. Other than that, it was a good location and great for watching stars.

We had a reserved site next to the river. The host was very informative, especially with the Elk Fire being close to nearby Lake City. The campground is quiet and very peaceful. Will definitely make a return visit.

We have camped here the last few years so we could attend the Creede Repertory Theater. Fun, fabulous shows. Also lots of fishing and hiking.

The camp host is great and has done well keeping the camp ground clean. Thanks to NFS budget cuts there are some tables that are badly warped. Note: there is a dirt road on the other side of the river, and quite a few knuckleheads driving fast enough that lots of dust will wind up on your site if you are next to the river.

The picnic tables are unusable as the seats are extremely warped with splinters as is the table surface. They need to be replaced but they appear to have been in this condition for many, many years. Melvin was a great host, and the bathroom is well kept. I did not see any water anywhere. Recommend exploring Creede which is just a short distance away.

What a waste of money. No water, no shade, picnic benches in horrible shape, sites, completely unlevel, bathrooms were disgusting and smelled terrible, no privacy, and constant dirt and dust coming from traffic on the road across the river. Noise day and night from the road traffic. With the rec.gov reservation fee and the weekend fee, it’s insanely expensive… For nothing. The host made a homophobic comment about the governor. Embarrassing. Nothing about the experience was good. Had to cut the trip early and found no way to request a refund even when I asked days in advance. This site is horrible and no one should have to pay for it. Shame on you wreck.gov/rec.gov. I wasted nearly $70 for a one night stay, since I couldn’t get a refund, at the worst campground I have truly ever stayed in.

Lovely campground along the Rio Grande River, but know that there is little to no shade. It is dry and a bit dusty. Melvin, the camp host, keeps the campground in top condition, even mowing along the paths to the bathrooms. He keeps the bathrooms stocked and clean. Bring a bucket to get water from the river to put out your campfires. There is no water available at the campground except from the Rio Grande River. We noted that our neighboring campers left their fires burning and smoldering when they left.

Unlike last year when we visited this year there is a camp host. There was a marked improvement in cleanliness of the campground and especially the bathroom. This is a great little campground and we look forward to returning.

General
- PMC & Recreation.gov policy states we will keep your reserved site until . If you haven't occupied it at any time during this period, your reservation is null and void and will be given to first come first serve campers. Your reservation will be a no show and no refund will be given.
- All single campsite reservation fees are good for 6 people and 1 vehicle. The maximum number of people per site is 8 ($10.00 additional charge after 6 people). The maximum number of vehicles per site is 2 ($10.00 additional charge for 2nd vehicle). Any extra people/vehicle fees will be charged at the campground ($10/night per person/vehicle).
- Bears frequent the area; keep all food out of sight in approved containers or locked inside your vehicle and remove all food from the area after eating
- No drinking water available; please bring your own supply
- The camp host at this location cannot modify your reservation. Before your , you may cancel or modify your reservation online. After your , you have a 7 day period to request a refund online.
- No electric hookups at this facility
- This is a high elevation facility, please use caution when traveling from lower elevations
- This campground has first-come, first-serve sites available but not guaranteed
- The 14 day stay limit is strictly enforced. Camping for a period longer than during any 30-consecutive day period is prohibited. If you have booked back-to-back reservations, you will be asked to cancel all days after the first 14.
