We had a great week at Island Lake Campground! Beautiful, peaceful setting with easy access to the lake and hiking. We did witness some bear activity, but had no issues. The host was very friendly and gave us a good reminder to keep food secured and not leave anything out for the bears. Overall, a nice and clean campground. We'd definitely come back!

Even though Island Lake was low, it was still beautiful and such a welcome change from the heat down below. The campground is always nice and quiet and the hosts are friendly and helpful. #6 is very shady and private, but not for longer rigs. Mine is only 22'.

Mark the camp host was great. We’ve stayed in a lot of state and national parks. This is a top 10 for beauty, peaceful surroundings and fabulous people. Mark goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and happy. Thanks for for a wonderful time. We will be back!

The camp host were great! Bathrooms spotless! Camp was clean . Several electric sites were not very flat. Electricity sufficient but not great. Most sites had flat large tent pads. Well maintained!

Everything was great except that we had 3 families with 10 children running around our campsite. The parents were sometimes gone and sometimes just didn’t care.

Loved the campground and our campsite. Bear activity was high tho, to the point that Mama bear and her 3 young ones marauded our neighbors site, eating the dinner off their table as they and their dogs were nearby - then came back to our site and pounded on our truck bed cover and climbed up on the windshield, lastly one growling at my husband. We are not typically afraid of bears but these are habituated to humans and fully unafraid of them. We would not return for this reason.

Getting There
From Cedaredge, Colorado, take State Route 65 north for 15.7 mi to campground sign (Forest Route 116). Turn left at sign onto Route 116 (gravel) and go 1.4 mi to campground sign. Turn left at sign into campground.
Highway access
Island Lake Campground is accessible via State Route 65, which connects to larger road networks in the area. No interstates or major highways are within 25 miles.
Policies & Rules
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
