Rocky Mountain National Park Moraine Park Campground

Great site with Mountain views. Only negative is the tank toilets. They aren’t kept very clean and flies are an issue.

My children and I stayed a few nights at Rocky Mountain National Park in Moraine Park campground and had a wonderful time. A lot of the campsites have a beautiful view of the mountains which is very relaxing and enjoyable. I would want to forewarn that some sites you have to haul your stuff further away from your parking spot and it didn't warn us online. So it is good to know that you may need to carry your stuff back and forth from your campsite to your vehicle a little further than maybe some other campgrounds. We saw a lot of wildlife. It was wonderful. I highly recommend the Cub Lake Trail and the Bear Lake Trail is beautiful as well. We saw quite a few animals throughout Este's Park and Rocky Mountain National Park area. This is overall a very affordable way to see the area. Camping is great. Make sure you study up how you should be storing your stuff so you don't bring food or something scented in your tent as they do get bear and other animals in the campground. Highly recommend. I will definitely be going back next year. We stayed at site a030 this year and hope to stay at 38 next year.

We were so excited to book a campsite in Moraine campground after being closed for 2 years.
First of all, I had a map of the sites and that is no longer how it is.
Sites are totally re numbered and some no longer exists.
That was confusing. Would have booked differently.
Second, Happy to have a few more flush toilet bathroom but those were mostly only on Loop A.
Nope we didn't book Loop A.
Third, my husband was surprised that more improvements were not done. Funding???

However, LOVE the park and will be back again. Next time we will be more in the know.

Great place to camp, clean facilities and friendly national park employees that made the stay great

Rocky is such a special place. Hiking to emerald Lake is a must do and even take a dip if it’s warm! We were visited by a marmot there! Bear Lake is a great sunset spot for a stroll annd the drive back to Moraine was incredible as there were numerous elk, turkey, and deer! Alberta Falls and Sprague Lake were stunning where we saw an osprey and many more deer! Staying in moraine campground was perfect to be in the park and have access to all the hikes on that side of the park. We parked chairs down by Big Thompson Creek in Moraine Park and dipped our toes while watching a herd of elk grazing close by! Driving the one way Old Falls Road up to the visitor center is a must do also! Be sure to walk to the top of the summit there!

We tent-camped at campsite C213 ( Standard Electric ) Aug 17 - Aug 22. I felt very fortunate to get ANY campsite with electricity in Moraine Park, so I definitely give it 5 stars; it was a great experience. We got to see mule deer from our site and elk as we drove nearby. You can't see Longs Peak from the picnic table, but if you walk 10 yards, you can get a view without trees in the way. A very short walk also gives you a view into the valley. Here's a few things to be aware of: The fire ring is so close to the tent pad that you could hardly have a campfire without endangering your tent to sparks. It seemed like many of the campsites are like this. (It didn't matter for us since there was a fire ban anyway.) The "driveway" for this site is in a low place and gets a big puddle of water when it rains, but the tent pad is fine. Note that when they give measurements of the tent pad, they are evidently INCLUDING roughly 6"x6" timbers that edge it, so the amount of space you actually have to pound a stake into is roughly 1' less length and 1' less width than the dimensions they give.

Nice site, near water and bathrooms. Had deer walking through our site. Only issue, is that for you to back in a trailer, the road is the wrong direction, and it is a one- way road. After we drove past it upon arriving, we went to the end of the loop, and drove back the wrong way in order to back our trailer into the spot. We happened to have a car coming the other direction, but they weren't towing anything and backed up few spots for us. When leaving we let the ranger know and she went back the other way in a golf cart to clear the way for us, as she totally understood the issue. Nice spot, just be aware if towing a camper. Beautiful scenery and experience.

Easy access from the East gate (Estes Park). It puts you in the Bear Lake area so you can probably get there without a reservation.

Nice to be inside the park instead of busy Estes Park. The camp site was good with a view out over Moraine valley, but now shade on my camper. The bathrooms were so so and no showers even at a price.
