What Guests Are Saying
Moraine Park Campground in Rocky Mountain National Park offers a beautiful and peaceful camping experience, with stunning views of snow-capped mountains and abundant wildlife like deer and elk. Campers appreciate the clean facilities, friendly staff, and convenient access to hiking trails. While some improvements could be made, such as better bathroom signage and more electrical sites, many visitors express a strong desire to return due to the campground's overall charm and serene ambiance.

We stayed 3 nights in the newly renovated “C” loop, site #194 to be specific. It was one of the best campsites we ever stayed at, and we have visited and stayed in 60 National Parks so far, that says a lot about this site.
The site is perfectly leveled all around, we measured it because the refrigerator in our class “B” RV needs a somewhat leveled ground according to the manual. The picnic table and bench is made of concrete in excellent condition. The tent pad was smooth and well drained as it rained one night, no puddle of water that could soak into the tent. 2 people sleep in a tent and 2 in the RV to be clear.
This site has a clear view and overlooking the meadows if you like animal watching, with binoculars.
If you love night sky, this is the place to be, no tall trees around and that goes without saying it worked great for our Starlink too.

Had to walk ~1/4 mile for the restroom. Was told that the contractors who installed the plumbing were the reason.
No trash receptacles in the loop (only near the entrance).
It was otherwise fine but it seems the campground as a whole was not ready to re-open.
Location within the park was convenient.

The only down side was closed bathroom, we chose right across from bathroom for a purpose only to find it closed. The park itself was beautiful.

Great location for elk watching. Our site was level, clean, and quiet. It’s our favorite campground in the park.

We always love camping in RMNP and are really happy to snag a reservation at any site we can, but this may be the actual worst camping site in our history of camping. And it could easily be one of the best with a little attention. The view and location are great! Open to the meadow and close to the shuttle. However, the picnic table was absolute trash - one entire bench was unusable as half of it was splintered off. The majority of the sites have super nice, sturdy picnic tables and this one is wood and metal and in terrible shape. In addition, the fire pit area is barely usable. There are bushes inches away along the entire back side - so close that it felt irresponsible to even consider a fire. The rest of the “designated fire area” is super small and raised so you can fit 2, maybe 3 chairs within inches of the metal.
Clear the bushes (if only even for safety purposes) and get a functioning picnic table and it would make a world of difference.

Beautiful, cleans and quiet camping. Just seconds from meadow to observe elk beginning of fall season. I was so lucky to get last campsite available.

A105 is a spectacular campsite, and I hope to enjoy it in the future.
The bathrooms were clean and plentiful.
The staff were welcoming, kind and helpful.
This is a huge park, that offers SO much to those of us who visit. It NEEDS all of its employees, permanent and seasonal. It is vital that they are not laid off/fired. These are our public lands which we cherish, and they must be supported.
Thank you.

Still a lot of bathrooms aren't working after 2 years. Otherwise the campground is nice. You can see the new cement in places. Our tent pad was level and site was relatively clean.

Stay Out of Hydroseeded Areas!Moraine Park Campground has recently been re-seeded after construction! This process, called hydroseeding, applies a combination of local native seed, mulch fiber, and water to disturbed areas, and looks similar to fine straw. Over the next couple of years, this seed will germinate and help restore the local native plant communities we know and love. Please protect these fragile areas by using designated paths and keeping kids and pets out of hydroseeded areas. |
