We love RMNP and Moraine Campground! The site we have had a few times this summer has the best view of Longs Peak and Meeker...right from the picnic table. The bathroom upgrades, the cleanliness of the whole campground is impressive every time.

The Pit Toilets were grossly nasty. You could not breathe while using because the ammonia smell was so strong. Clean the nasty tubes.

The park is beautiful, BUT all of the PASS checks to get into the campground is CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!! We paid for 5 adults to camp and it said 2 cars. My kids left to get coffee our last morning ( they had to pay to drive around to rest of the park the day before) they had the camp pass on the car and STILL had to pay to come back in just to bring us coffee and pack up to leave. It was ridiculous. We have camped at a lot of campgrounds ina lot of National Parks and have NEVER been charged to go in and out of the park every day. Ridiculous. My husband is a vet and just wanted to be able to go camping with his adult children. It became quite an expensive ordeal. I don’t recommend camping there. It really isn’t any benefit. There are Air bnbs near by. We met people who had a similar experience and said NEVER EVER camp here.

This campsite was definitely a favorite! One night, we had over 40 elk grazing in the meadows behind us. So so beautiful!

The campground was very clean and the sites well spaced away from each other. If a numbered site seems like it is away from the road, it is. There is a parking spot and you haul your gear along a path to the site. But that said, it is a short distance, easy to do, the campsites are all very nice and the effort is worth it. It is a large campground but doesn’t feel large. We enjoyed walking around the campground and enjoyed the fabulous views all around. Be aware that the D loop and the upper numbered half of the B loop have pit toilets (they were very stinky). All the other sites have flush toilets/comfort stations with an outside kitchen sink for washing out dishes and dumping grey water. Electric sites are mixed in among the non-electric sites. All sites have food lockers and the park rangers are very strict about keeping all food and toiletries in the lockers. Solar shower stalls (there are only two for the whole campground) are basic but work fine. Ice (block and cube) and some other treats and supplies were available daily from 5-8pm at the wood shed. It is a great base for hiking in the Bear Lake area as your reservation allows you to access Bear Lake Road anytime. I would stay here again but be sure to get a site near one of the flush toilet comfort stations next time.

Great site for a short stay. I wouldn't stay at this particular site again. Very exposed and out in the open. Little tree coverage so not much privacy compared to those across the road. Be careful leaving car doors/trunk open. Chipmunks ran in and out of our car while packing and unpacking. Keep trash locked up or they will rummage. Lovely wildlife early morning. Large flat tent pad. Bathroom is fright across the field a short walk away. Dumpsters also short walk down the road.
