What Guests Are Saying
Moraine Park Campground in Rocky Mountain National Park offers a beautiful and peaceful camping experience, with stunning views of snow-capped mountains and abundant wildlife like deer and elk. Campers appreciate the clean facilities, friendly staff, and convenient access to hiking trails. While some improvements could be made, such as better bathroom signage and more electrical sites, many visitors express a strong desire to return due to the campground's overall charm and serene ambiance.

We enjoyed staying here! Being close to the elk was AMAZING. We loved hearing them bugle all night!
Cons- there are not enough bear boxes! Campsites have to share, sometimes 3 camps sharing the same one. We had to leave a cooler of drinks out because it wouldnt fit, and we got in trouble. Luckily the ranger gave us a warning and no ticket but the warning is on our record now.
The lady selling the ice and firewood is very rude.
Wish the solar showers had bags for ppl to use! That would be a cheap addition and it would help alot.
Our camp was 12, it was up on a hill so carrying our stuff up there sucked.

Friendly staff, clean restrooms. Could ask for more! And oh! Elk bulls butting heads just outside your tent!

Great park. Wish I could have spent more time there. We spent two nights at the park, one additional day would have been nice or alternatively getting there before dusk on our first day. It does get cold in September so I would recommend a 20F sleeping bag if you want to be cozy. Also pace yourselves on the hikes, especially if you live at sea level. Be sure to check out the Alpine Visitor center.

Easy once you figure out navigation. Because of limited phone service in RMNP, and daily releases of camp sites the day before, you have to leave the park and move sites every day to get multiple days with timed entry. Due to weather and travel, some of us can not plan out 30 days on a 1700 mile trip to get there. The Park was amazing howeever!!!

Outstanding location, very quiet and beautiful view of trees mostly. My mobile was not so great for xFinity Mobile however. A quick car to the area to walk and I saw Elk and a mommy bear and baby bears playing in the near field, incredible! At dusk at approximately on September 19th 2022 at 5pm. Thank you. - Jeff

The campground is quiet and well-maintained. The sites on the "park" (valley) side of the road give you easy access to elk viewing.

Great area, but not all campsites are created equal. This site unfortunately had water drainage from nearby campsites running directly through the fire pit. It was raining, so this was an issue.
The tent site location, parking, hosts, and everything else, was great.

Stay Out of Hydroseeded Areas!Moraine Park Campground has recently been re-seeded after construction! This process, called hydroseeding, applies a combination of local native seed, mulch fiber, and water to disturbed areas, and looks similar to fine straw. Over the next couple of years, this seed will germinate and help restore the local native plant communities we know and love. Please protect these fragile areas by using designated paths and keeping kids and pets out of hydroseeded areas. |
