Confusing reservation app, especially when you are out at Bookcliffs with limited data connectivity. Wish there were more first come first served sites. No camp host or toilet paper in the outhouses. Road out there is rough as hell and dusty. I'll be passing on this campground in the future.

Great spot with some privacy among the trees and small paths for the toddler to walk around with his remote control car. 10/10 would book this spot again. There are neighbors but didn’t feel crowded. So close to the main trail head too.

The campground experience itself was fine, we have stayed here many times. The issue is the reservation system- it may work well for light to moderately busy campgrounds but for an extremely popular area like this, it does not work very well. Before the reservation system we could roll in on a busy spring weekend either a Friday or sometimes even Saturday morning and while busy, we could always find a decent spot if we got there reasonably early. Now that you have to reserve in advance, it is extremely difficult to get a spot, yet for the past two years we have found that many spots get reserved and not used. We aren't able to reserve 6 months in advance because it's too early to lock in plans so we tried to book a spot that releases 4 days in advance (about half the spots are released this way). For a weekend reservation during the busy season you have to book at least one night that you don't intend to use to even get a shot at a spot. In fact our campground neighbor said their group books a whole week of nights but only actually come for the weekend. I booked 4 days ahead of Thursday night even though we weren't arriving until Friday because last year we couldn't get a spot at all and ended up doing undeveloped camping outside the lower campground. Even going on to reserve right at 8 AM I still only got the very last available spot through the weekend, which ended up not being a great spot for tent camping. I'd guess based on what we saw rolling in Friday that AT LEAST 75% of sites were NOT occupied Thursday night even though the place was completely sold out. Even Friday night there were several open spots although it did fill out by Saturday. This is not right, it forces you to book and pay for unused nights to get a spot on the weekend. I'm not sure what the solution is other than going back to first come/served but the current reservation system does NOT work for weekend visitors.

Love it out here. Campsites are well maintained and plenty of spots big enough for a trailer. Some of the best biking around also!

Your reservation system is awful!
Campground maps are difficult to access if they can be accessed at all.
Without campground maps accessible reservations are made blindly and incorrectly. Tenters are staying in sites that are great for RVs and RVs are staying in sites that would be great for tenters.

I had a great experience. However, someone was accidentally in my site but when they returned they realized that it was the site next to mine they reserved and then apologized and moved. I am looking forward to my fall mtb trip this year! See you soon!

No campsite host during my stay, which was nice because that eliminated all day generator noise that I experienced last year. Trails were great as usual but there was no toilet paper when I arrived and it was never replenished over my 3 day, 2 night stay. Lots of noisy late-night partying on Sunday night not appreciated, but that's the choice of inconsiderate fellow campers. Monday night was very quiet.

one of the busiest weekends of the year and no attendant. many parties up late yelling made it impossible to sleep. if you're going to take control of all this camping then actually manage it.
