What Guests Are Saying
North Fruita Desert Campground offers fantastic sites with great access to mountain biking trails, making it an ideal spot for family trips. The campground is clean, well-marked, and features nicely wooded areas for shade, along with newly paved access roads. However, some campsites are close together, which can lead to noise, and visitors are advised to bring their own toilet paper as supplies may run out.

The North Fruita campground area was really pleasant, nice fire ring and nice Pinion/Juniper trees surrounding the sites. We were only able to say one night but I would highly recommend the North/upper campground sites for anyone wanting to camp or mountain bike here. The 18 mile trail system was right nearby so you can ride from camp.

The campsite was very good and I like that you can reserve ahead of time for the upper campground, so you know if you have a campsite before traveling there.
We arrived Friday evening after dark and there was someone already set up at our site but were not there. The people returned around 10 PM and initially were confrontational but then realized we had the reservation so they packed up and left. A friend reserved a different site the same weekend and had a similar issue—someone left gear to try and steal the site. Maybe better signage stating the sites are reservation only would help. But some people are just jerks, which is unavoidable.

There was no camphost to reserve spots in advance (November 2021) and plenty of people taking reserved sites unknowingly. This will likely not happen once the camphost arrives in the spring, however, you may have to kick someone out of your site when you arrive. Also, the A loop in the upper Fruita Campground is really only recommended for tents. There is not a flat spot for a camper van and only 1 car per spot.

Most of the campsites in the Upper Campground at North Fruita Desert area are neither big enough nor level enough to comfortably park a van or pickup truck to camp in. Let alone a small RV or trailer.

Great location for all the biking. Saw someone cleaning the privy on my first day, was stocked. All the TP was gone by second day, that was the only disturbance by ALL THE PEOPLE THERE. Even though I was booked solid, the Campground is so well done, we barely noticed the huge parties all around us. We slept undisturbed and had a wonderful time. Sunsets are beautiful just along the ridge from the campground.

Restrooms were rough, check out your site before you arrive as some can not accommodate trailers or do not have much for a tent site.

People were partying very loudly and playing music loudly, which kept us up all night. Camp hosts are needed to ensure a real outdoor experience for all guests.
