North Fruita Desert Campground offers fantastic sites with great access to mountain biking trails, making it an ideal spot for family trips. The campground is clean, well-marked, and features nicely wooded areas for shade, along with newly paved access roads. However, some campsites are close together, which can lead to noise, and visitors are advised to bring their own toilet paper as supplies may run out.

Love the work that was done to the camping area. The addition of the new bathrooms is huge!! It really helps to manage the crowds and waste. The new camp sites are well planned and set up. Thank you!

Great location, super convenient for biking! I stayed at site A14. Loved the views and this site seems less exposed to the wind compared to others. Definitely within conversational distance with A13 (can be good or bad if booking both) so mind your P's & Q's. FYI I will say the parking for A14 is not level if you're trying to sleep in a van or vehicle.

Beautiful campsite with the best access to the MTB trails at 18 Road. Good size area for tents. Easy parking. Nearby bathrooms. Downsides… no trash receptacles and the bathroom was never restocked with toilet paper even though it started full early in the weekend. Neither issue bothers me too much, but for $20/nt, I feel like those should be non-issues.

The online reservation process wasn't easy because service was limited at the campground. Also a lot of people were just taking camp spots although they were reserved by someone online. Some pretty angry people!

We stayed in the lower developed campgrounds, which are first come, first serve and paid. These campgrounds used to be free dispersed camping, which I thoroughly enjoyed. While it is convenient to have a firepit, picnic table and facilities, I do miss the undeveloped free dispersed camping. Also, the sites are very close to one another.

The new online payment requirement for the campground was horrific. Poor signal for phone users; had to drive to fruita public library to pay for campsite. Please bring back onsite payment!! Doubtful I will camp at BLM camps that have mandatory online reservation/payment system

The campground is fine, the online reservation system worked well, but I'm not happy about paying an additional $8.00 for a reservation fee. People should be able to use the old style envelopes to pay as long as there's campsites available, and thus avoid that $8 fee! That's exorbitant!

Take Interstate 70 west to Fruita (exit 19). Turn north onto Cherry Street and take the first right onto Aspen Avenue. Go through the roundabout and continue on Aspen to Maple Street. Take a left on Maple Street and then travel north. The street will turn into 17.5 Road. Take a right on N.3 Road and then a left on 18 Road. Travel approximately 7 miles on 18 Road to the trailhead, event area and lower campground. Continue 1.5 miles north to reach the upper campground loops.
The campground is accessible via Interstate 70, which is approximately 19 miles to the south.

- The following campsites are available for reservation up to six months in advance of your stay: Sites A1 through A14 Sites B1 through B12 Sites G1 through G23 Sites H1 through H5 Group sites D9, D11 and G24 Sites J5 through J7 Sites K8 through K15The following campsites are available for reservation up to four days in advance of your stay: Sites C1-C21 Sites D1-D11 Sites E1-E12 Sites F1-F12 Sites J1 through J4 Sites K1 through K7
- Campsites are limited to 10 people and two vehicles Group sites are limited to 20 people and four vehicles Vehicles must be parked in designated areas, parking off road is not allowed. The Event area in the Lower Campground may be used for overflow parking. Stays are limited to 14 days No firewood gathering is allowed No water or electricity is available, there are eight pit toilets within the campground All trash, including dog waste, must be packed out Reservations are required for all camping within the campground Changes may be made to your reservation until 24 hours before the reserved date. A full refund, minus the $8 reservation fee, will be given if canceled 48 hours before the first reserved date. Please note, you cannot change your check-in date. If you would like to change your check-in date, you will need to cancel your entire reservation and rebook.
