Buffalo Springs is one of our favorite campgrounds and our most recent trip did not disappoint. Each site feels private, the vault toilets are in good condition and the water pump must have been worked on since our last visit as it is much easier to work. We were in Site 17 which is level and close to the toilets. The host is helpful and made regular rounds.

Nice, quiet campground. Great respite from the heat! Be aware many of sites are a bit backward. Impossible to back a trailer in if going counter clockwise. Fortunately our camp host let us go back around and come in from the clockwise direction.

A quiet campground in the woods with large campsites spaced far apart to give a delightful sense of isolation. Buffalo Springs CG is close to Fairplay for local Main Street shops and for the last full weekend each July, the Burro Days festival. The campground is also on a road that directly accesses National Forest land and 4-wheeling opportunities.

The access road is easy to navigate. Unfortunately, the pitches aren't level. We were there for three days. It rained for one or two days. It's only crowded on weekends. We camped at Buffalo Springs Campground in a Motorhome.

  • Be bear aware; keep all food out of sight in approved containers or locked inside your vehicle and remove all food from area after eating
  • This is a high elevation facility, please use caution when traveling from lower elevatio
  • No RV hookups are available
  • For more information on Pike and San Isabel National Forests, click here
  • Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing organisms by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Firewood is available to purchase on site, depending on any fire ban. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
  • The use, sale, and possession of all forms of cannabis in the United States is illegal under federal law on federal lands.
  • Shooting of any type is prohibited in the campground
  • ATVs and off road vehicles are prohibited in the campground
  • Dogs must be on a leash or tethered at all times.
  • Reservations are available up to five days prior to arrival date. Sites not reserved five days before become ‘walk-up’ and are available on a ‘first come - first serve’ bases.
  • Two vehicles or one RV per site is included in the camping fee. $11.00 for a third vehicle. $11.00 fee for day use if not camping overnight.
  • Firewood is available for sale at host site for $10.00/bundle.
